I have to start this out by saying that I love Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I watched the show when it first aired and fell in love with it. The characters were so fantastic and the relationship between the original gang was just so much fun to watch. At the same time with all of the things that I love about the show, there were definitely moments where I felt it either went off the rails a bit or just fell flat. In general these moments do not reflect badly on the show as a whole and I will still re-watch.
But there are some things that still just bug me. (Spoilers for Buffy the Vampire Slayer to follow!)

I decided that it could be fun to write a post doing a basic run down of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The idea is to give a basic run down for someone who has not watched the show to partly explain why we who did watch it loved it so much and where it started, as well as where it is now. The thing is Buffy the Vampire Slayer is not just the tv show. It started out as a movie, moved to a tv show, and currently is a comic book. These three versions each have their own distinctive flavor and story being told.
The movie came out in 1992 starring Kristy Swanson and Donald Sutherland. The movie was written by Joss Whedon, but Directed by Fran Kuzui. The movie ended up terrible. They took Joss’ vision and ended up with everything playing all wrong. I personally think they ended up taking themselves way to seriously instead of having fun with it like they should. In 1995 Joss decided to bring the story to tv because the movie did not do his vision justice. The tv show was so successful that it lasted seven seasons and a rabid fan base. Even after the show ended this fan base has kept up the passion for the story that had been told. This has then led to continuing the story in a comic book form, which is now up to season 9 and still going. The story has grown and changed, but some of the basics have stayed the same. David so far has been the one doing the character alignments so far and I thought I would give it a shot. To start I needed to do something that I love, and that is why we are getting the character alignments for Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Now one problem I had with this list is that many of these characters could probably fit in multiple spots, but I tried to go with what I felt was their dominant characteristic. It is definitely an interesting practice in a sort of short style character study. The alignment that you put a character in says a lot about that character and what you perceive about them. So without further ado, here is my Buffy Character Alignments. Continue reading

So I did not grow up reading comics like David did. I have only recently gotten in to reading comics, partly due to Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I did like some manga, but the problem is that it goes on for so long and can take up an entire room with comics or manga. The amazing thing that has happened is the ability to get my comics on my iPad (or other tablet devices), which means I am not taking up precious space and since there is not a comic book store in my town I can actually access comics.
So the thing that really got me started was season 8 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and I have been trying to keep up with season 9, but I just get so busy and then get behind and then I have to catch up. At the same time I have really enjoyed reading the comic version of Buffy and have read all of the Firefly continuations. Part of the other problem that I have is wondering where do I start. So, I was having trouble thinking of a post tonight and so decided to share about some of my favorite characters – but how to qualify favorite? Because the list could go on and on. So instead of looking at my favorite lead, because that is also a difficult list, I am going to look at some of my favorite supporting characters. These characters are not the lead, they are not the one making the decisions, but they help support the overall story and world in some way.
So while this is in no way a comprehensive list here are some of my favorite supporting characters. Continue reading
