Happy 4th of July for those that celebrate it!!
So this is the 1000th and final post on the comparativegeeks.wordpress.com site; some of you might have noticed some updates made to our social media accounts already. All future content will only be posted to the newly set up and self-hosted http://comparativegeeks.com. This has been such a great place to share some of our thoughts, opinions, views, etc. WordPress.com has such a wonderful community and there is a part of us that hates leaving. Thank you everyone who has joined us here, commenting, reading, and engaging on these topics. Hopefully it will not be too much of a leap to have you join us at the new site.
By doing a self-hosted site there are definitely features that we can add through customizations that would not be available if we kept the site here. We are excited about this new endeavor, but we are sad to leave.
It is not about changing what we are doing, but trying to improve and expand. We will be increasing to posting something at least once a day. Sundays will always be the Comparative Opinions weekly podcast, which we have officially launched so look on the site for that or it should be available on iTunes shortly. The other piece that we are hoping to add is a little bit more community engagement. Forums have been set up to allow for a different type of discussion topics and threads to keep going that can hopefully function a bit better than just a comments section.
This blog started as David and I just wanted to talk about things that we geek out about and we want it to grow beyond just our voice. We have many contributors who have said they would be willing to help write things and we are so grateful to all of them. If you are interested in potentially being a contributor whether it is one post or recurring you can email firstname.lastname@example.org. The last three-and-a-half years has definitely been a journey and hopefully they will continue to be so in to the future.
If we were having coffee, I might very well complain about Apple Music.
That’s a lie: I love Apple Music. I would complain about a related problem: iCloud Music Library.
Holly and I waited at first when it came to Apple Music. We reached a point, though, in looking at the option for a family account – cheaper than us each having an individual, and available since we family linked our iTunes accounts. We heard it would be available on the new Apple TV which we wanted (and got). We heard it was going to have a whole lotta music.
So we started up our three-month free trial (I think we’re still in it? Might be close to the end…). And I went to turn it on. And it told me something: to use Apple Music, I had to turn on iCloud Music Library. Without a second thought, I turned it on, and Apple blew up my music library. Continue reading

One of our favorite movie going experiences ever was Snakes on a Plane.
Not because there was any great cinematic anything in that film, but because it owned the fact that it was utterly ridiculous. Also, we were the only ones in the theatre (a group of us) and we got to interact with the movie more that way.
Well, it looks like Samuel L. Jackson, the BAMF himself, is doing it again. We saw the add for this movie – Big Game – and it just looks ridiculous. But in that great way. And they’ve figured out how the fun works, too – the movie is coming out in theatres, and on iTunes, the same day. Today.
So grab some friends, leave your serious side behind, and check out Big Game this weekend. I know we’re going to try to!
I know we’ve been talking a lot about Christmas presents, and getting things for the myriad geeks in our life. So you still have shopping to do… what do you get the Geek in your life, here at the last minute?
I’m figuring it’s too late to order online, you need to go somewhere and get something good. I have a few ideas for you. Let everybody know in the comments if you have more ideas to add!
