Welcome to the Comparative Opinions podcast! This week, hosts Holly and David rank all of the current shared-universe Marvel TV shows, and shared-universe DC TV shows, all against each other. Does this list match your own? Let us know! Then they end with a bit of a discussion of The Punisher, which is coming soon – where will it fall in the rankings?
It was one of the best shows of last year, overshadowed perhaps by Marvel’s other shows… Man they had a good TV year… but season 2 is here! Agent Carter. I actually blogged reviews of every episode last year, which was easy enough as there were only 8. I don’t think I’m going to do the same thing this year – but I thought I would write up some initial thoughts.
Last week the new ABC show Agent Carter premiered, the latest in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It stars Hayley Atwell, who has been slowly increasing in how often she has been showing up in the movies and shows. She plays Agent Peggy Carter, first seen in Captain America: The First Avenger, a character who has been increased from her comic origins to be a total World War 2 era badass.
So last year Holly and I each wrote a post about what we were excited about for 2014. Well, the lists were pretty similar, and we also feel like there were more things that we knew were coming in 2014. As in, we can’t name all that many things coming this year.
There are a bunch of movie announcements for the next several years, like from Marvel, but 2015 is a bit quieter on that front. And without the new consoles there aren’t a lot of games coming for us to be excited about. There are a couple of spring season shows coming, but they both start in the next few days and don’t feel like a big this-year sort of thing.
Anyway, it seems like our big news yesterday will be the biggest thing we’re excited for this year, but I’ve included a poll with the few things on our radar. If there’s more you’re excited for this year, let us know in the comments below!
Last week we got the premiere of Agents of SHIELD and got a glimpse at the direction the show is going in this next season. There was some trepidation considering how slowly the first season took to ramp up, but it seems that they have gotten over their initial slow pace and have found their story. There were quite a few elements that the premiere introduced us to. We got to see what happened with the various team members since we last saw them and what they will be working on. We also got an interesting glimpse at the villain for the season that seems like it might be somewhat tied to the Agent Carter show. There seems to be definite potential for this next season, starting a lot stronger than the first season. (Spoilers for Agents of SHIELD after the jump!)
