What’s Streaming October 2016

There’s a lot coming this month to streaming, including a few horror show seasons and movies (like American Horror Story: Hotel to Netflix and 28 Days Later on HBO Go). The full list of everything can be found here, but here’s a few highlights.

Breakfast at Tiffany’s

An absolute classic and fashion icon movie, this needs to be on your list of movies to see before you die. Thanks to Netflix, you can if you haven’t yet!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

A fantastic 80s classic, this is perfect for the weekend or a day off. Chicka chicka!

The Queen of the Damned

I’ll admit, I love this movie, even though it is cheesy as hell. This adaptation of Anne Rice’s third installment in her Vampire Chronicles stars Stuart Townsend, Marguerite Moreau, and Aaliyah. The story follows the Vampire Lestat as he discovers fame as a modern rock star…and basically, it’s amazing.

Titanic

Feel like watching an incredibly long James Cameron movie? Now you can on Netflix starting this month!

The Flash, Season 2 (Oct 3)

Finally and just in time for season 3’s premiere this month! If you haven’t been able to catch up (like me!), a binge is in your future so you can start season 3 October 4th.

Arrow, Season 4 (Oct 3)

Same as above, now’s the time to catch up before season 5 premieres on October 5th!

Supernatural, Season 11 (Oct 7)

The amazing show that just keeps on going, the latest season will be available before season 12’s premiere in true CW fashion.

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Season 1 (Oct 8)

Finally! A chance to watch this show if, like me, you completely missed it. Season 2 will be premiering on October 13th so get to bingeing!

Notables Leaving Netflix:

  • Back to the Future
  • Back to the Future Part II
  • Back to the Future Part III
  • Heroes, seasons 1-4
  • Psych, seasons 1-8
  • Timeline
  • The Truman Show (Oct 20th)

For me, Amazon this month is a little lacking in titles I could recommend personally, having not seen most of them. There are several horror films coming, including some horrible ones, notably Troll 2. Otherwise there are a few worthwhile movies, like Secretary, a decidedly adult film that will make you ponder love and its many forms. Also, you can check out Spectre if you didn’t in theatres, and marvel at its mediocrity.

  • Hunger Games, The: Mockingjay Part 2
  • Let the Right One In (English Subtitled)
  • Pride and Prejudice
  • Secretary
  • The Witches
  • Troll
  • Troll 2
  • Spectre (17th)
  • Good Girls Revolt (series premiere Oct 28th) – Seemingly Mad Men with a decidedly feminist bent and based on a true story.

Deadpool

Did you miss this in theatres? Not to worry! If you have access to HBO this month, you can finally check out what is definitely one of the best movies of the year.

I Am Legend (Extended Cut)

If you’re in the mood for something terrifying but not Halloween themed or necessarily a horror movie, this Will Smith driven film will be perfect for you. Well done and suspenseful, it follows a man who may or may not be the lone survivor of the Apocalypse as he tries to survive each new terrifying night as it comes.

Poltergeist

The original is incredibly creepy, especially if you read up on the weird history surrounding the filming of the Poltergeist films, including strange and terrifying deaths of cast and crew in the years surrounding their production. Perfect for spooky Halloween viewing!

Romancing the Stone

A classic 80s romantic comedy, starring Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner. Amazingly cheesy, it’s definitely a good one to watch if you feel like watching something light that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Spider-Man & Spider-Man 2

Feeling nostalgic for the first Spider-Man trilogy? HBO has you covered! And they happily kept out the horribly emo third movie, so you can just enjoy the first two movies before they decided to make things really weird.
