A lot of really exciting things always come out of San Diego Comic-Con, and this year was no exception. A lot of teasers and trailers were released, giving us first looks at several upcoming films that already have a lot of buzz. I’m only highlighting the ones that really stuck out to me, which unfortunately is most of them…
Dr Strange Trailer 2
I can get behind the Inception-inspired world-bending; on this scale, it looks amazing. I’m really excited to see this, as much as I’ve railed against origin stories in the past, this one is widely unknown and I’m looking forward to what they’re going to do with it. Marvel has been thoroughly impressive over the last few years, and I’m sure this will be the same way.
Coming from Netflix: Defenders, Iron Fist, and Luke Cage
If these shows are anything like the other Netflix originals coming from Marvel, we all have reason to be excited. I’ve been looking forward to Luke Cage since watching Jessica Jones, and this trailer has me very enthusiastic for these continuations of this part of the Marvel Universe.
Legion
I had no idea this was going to be a thing, and it seems to have Marvel’s awesome brand of funny and incredibly cool action, to which all I can say is *fangirl squeal* in response.
Justice League
If Batman vs. Superman was a set up for a DC Universe to rival the Marvel Cinematic Universe, I’m digging it because Justice League actually looks really good. They seem to be going young Peter Parker/Quicksilver route with Barry Allen but that lends to his character, so we’ll see. Personally I was impressed with Ben Affleck’s performance as Batman, so it will be interesting to see him continue the role.
Wonder Woman
All I can say is HELL YES! This looks so amazing – I was thoroughly impressed with Gal Gadot’s performance in B.v.S., she saved the whole movie for me. She was able to pull off mysterious woman without simpering or being overly sexual and I am psyched to see her solo movie, much more than any of the other new DC Universe. This looks fantastic.
King Arthur Legend of the Sword
Guy Ritchie doing King Arthur? I’m so thoroughly intrigued. Also, Roose Bolton and *gasp* do I spy Littlefinger? Hoooooray! Also, that song? I’m in love.
Kong: Skull Island
Brought to you by a writer who worked to revamp Godzilla recently and another who worked on Jurassic World (Max Borenstein and Derek Connolly respectively), this looks like an interesting take on the King Kong story. Although the Jurassic World writing credit just makes me think at some point we’ll have an overly drawn out death of a minor female character to cringe at…
American Gods
An excellent time to read the Neil Gaiman book if you haven’t had the chance, like me, so you can catch this on Starz! I’ve been hearing a lot of really good buzz about this, and considering my love of Neil Gaiman’s work, this one will be a must for me.
Sherlock: Season 4
I feel like all I can say for this is FINALLY!
