Great Organization Tools

So one of these tools I discovered recently and the other one I have been using for a while. Both of them are great for organizing thoughts, ideas, and projects. I use Evernote to organize my note taking on various subjects. I create notebooks for various projects where I need to organize my thoughts. I often use it to write down thoughts that I have for posts and add links to information if that is needed. The other one is something I discovered at work recently called asana. It is more about projects and tasks, but it is a great way to get yourself organized and if you are working on a project with others to add them to the list. Both of these are super easy to use and I have found them to be a great asset.

Evernote

Evernote

Evernote is simply a note taking tool, but it is also so much more. It allows you to create separate notebooks that you work within. In each of the notebooks you can make as many notes as needed. One of the great things is that you can create checklists within the notebook. This is great if you need to keep track of items that you want to discuss or as in my case posts that you might want to create. It is an easy tool to use and great because you can have it on your phone, computer, and tablet. Meaning you can have it with you wherever you go and whenever you might need it. It is a great way to keep your thoughts organized and remind yourself of what you were thinking about earlier when you were reading that article or watching that show.

asana

asana on the other hand is a project and task organizer. It is more about having certain tasks that need to be done and projects that they belong to. You can set up tasks separate from projects to be able to track single items that need to be accomplished. Then you can set up projects and make a list of tasks that need to be completed to finish the project. Then you can assign others task within the project and share the project with others so that they can create and edit tasks themselves. You can assign due dates and create subtasks to tasks. If tasks are assigned to you they appear under your task list, which you can then rearrange the order, list them under needing to be completed Today, Upcoming, or Later. I have not used it yet, but they seem to also have an app that you can download that connects to the information you posted. So it can be available on your computer and on your phone. Thus, you have a place to keep track of your various tasks and projects. Not only personal projects, but shared projects as well.

How about you – any technology you like to use to keep organized? Let us know in the comments below.

  1. I am going to sound like a caveman… I’m fond of using my ancient paper-technology day planner that I lug around for work.

I’ll take a look at Everynote, sounds interesting. I should accept that I now live in the 21st century.

    • If you like pen and paper that is fine. I had a small notebook I carried around with me, but Evernote is a bit easier to find notes again because some ideas sit for longer than they probably should. So when I remember again I have to find my notes.
